What kind of low-carb tortilla can I use with this chicken tortilla pizza recipe?

Flour tortillas work best. I recommend using a low-carb spinach tortilla. Depending on your dietary preference, you can use whole wheat tortillas or gluten-free tortillas. I do not recommend using corn tortillas because they become more of a tostada once they bake. You can also use pita bread or naan bread for a thicker crust.

Ingredients & Substitutions

Here is everything you need to make the best-tasting personal chicken pizza on a tortilla in the air fryer:

Tortilla: You have many options for the tortilla, but I recommend using a low-carb spinach tortilla. Depending on your dietary preference, you can use whole wheat tortillas, or gluten-free tortillas. I do not recommend using corn tortillas because they become more of a tostada once they bake. You can also use pita bread or naan bread for a thicker crust.

Ranch Dressing: You can use your favorite ranch salad dressing or sauce, including pizza sauce, alfredo sauce, marinara sauce, tomato sauce, or tomato paste.

Chicken: Use precooked shredded chicken, rotisserie chicken, left-over chicken, cooked boneless skinless chicken breast, or chicken thighs. You can also replace it with your favorite pizza meat, including slices of pepperoni, sausage, or ground beef.

Mozzarella Cheese: This is my favorite cheese to use because it melts and gives the classic cheese-pull. But, you can use cheddar cheese, provolone cheese, or a blend of cheeses for variety. You can also add a little parmesan cheese for extra delicious flavor.

Fresh Tomatoes: I like to use chopped Roma tomatoes, but you can also use cherry tomatoes or grape tomatoes, beef steak, or heirloom tomatoes.

Fresh Basil: You can also use a dash of dried basil if you don’t have access to fresh herbs.

How to Make My Air Fryer Tortilla Pizza with Chicken and Ranch Recipe

Here are easy, detailed, step-by-step instructions for the best way to make a crispy chicken ranch tortilla pizza. They’re also repeated in the recipe card at the bottom of this blog post.

Step 1: Prepare Your Tortilla Pizza Crust

Preheat your air fryer to 385°F (195°C).

Carefully place your tortilla in the bottom of the air fryer basket.

Place a small heatproof glass or ceramic bowl on top of the tortilla to keep it from blowing around in the air fryer.

Air fry for 4 minutes at 385°F. Flip the tortilla over half way and move the small bowl to a different spot on the tortilla. The tortilla should be stiff enough to hold its shape but not toasted brown yet.

Once done, carefully remove the pizza from the air fryer using tongs or a spatula and place it on a cutting board or plate.

Step 2: Add Your Favorite Pizza Toppings

Spread 2 tablespoons of ranch dressing evenly over the tortilla.

Then sprinkle 1 tablespoon of chopped basil leaves and the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the pizza.

Then, spread the chopped chicken and tomatoes over the cheese.

Carefully transfer the prepared tortilla pizza to the preheated air fryer basket.

Step 3: Air Fry Your Pizza

Air fry for 3 minutes at 385°F or until the cheese is bubbly and the edges of the tortilla are lightly golden brown. If needed, cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Once done, carefully remove the pizza from the air fryer using tongs or a spatula.

Let it cool for a minute or two before slicing and serving.
