Crispy Seasoned Air Fryer Sweet Potato Wedges

Gentle Tummy

Ingredients

  • 1 sweet potato
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil (or light olive oil)
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • dash pepper

Instructions

  • Scrub and slice the sweet potatoes into even wedges, around 1/4 inch thick, using a sharp knife on a cutting board.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the 2 tablespoons avocado oil (or light olive oil), 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1/4 teaspoon onion powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and a dash of pepper and stir until combined. Toss the wedges in the bowl and stir with a spatula until they’re well-coated in the oil and seasonings.
  • Arrange the wedges in a single layer in your air fryer basket, making sure there’s a bit of space between each wedge so they cook evenly.
Air fry for 15-20 minutes at 400°F until golden brown on the edges, flipping them over halfway through. Keep an eye on them the last few minutes to ensure they don't burn on the edges.
Remove them from the air fryer and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
  • Oven Baked Method:
Spread the seasoned sweet potatoes in a single layer on the baking sheet. Bake for 25-35 minutes at 425°F, flipping them halfway through to ensure even crispiness. When they’re golden brown and tender, take them out and serve immediately with your favorite dip or topping!

Notes

Keep Wedges Uniform: Cutting them evenly helps them cook at the same rate.
Don’t Overcrowd the Basket: Give the wedges space in the air fryer for the best crispiness. If needed, cook in batches.
Optional Soak: For even crispier wedges, soak them in water for 30 minutes, then pat dry before adding seasoning.
Extra Crispy?: For an extra crispy edge, allow them to cool for a few minutes, and then air fry again for about 5 minutes. Be careful not to burn them.
