Turkey Breakfast Patties (Maple Sausage Seasoned)

Gentle Tummy

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon sage
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon maple extract
  • dash pepper

Instructions

  • Combine 1 teaspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon rosemary, 1 teaspoon sage, 1 teaspoon salt, and a dash of pepper in a small bowl and mix. Add 1 pound ground turkey to a large bowl, pour the 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce and 1/8 teaspoon maple extract over top, and gently fold together with a spatula until evenly combined. Divide into 6 portions and press each between parchment paper to 1/4-inch thickness.
  • Heat the same skillet over medium-high heat with a light coating of olive oil. Using the parchment paper, carefully flip each patty into the pan. Place a heat-proof dish on top of each patty and cook 30-60 seconds until browned. Flip, cover with the dish again, and cook another 30-60 seconds until cooked through.

Notes

Press the patties thin: Using parchment paper makes handling easier, and thinner patties cook more evenly with better browning and crispier edges.
Don't overmix the meat: Gently fold the seasonings in to keep the patties tender - overmixing makes them tough and dense.
Use the weight technique: Pressing down with a heat-proof dish helps create better contact with the pan for even browning and faster cooking.
Cook on medium-high heat: This gives you that perfect golden crust while ensuring the inside cooks through without drying out.
